วัดเก่าแก่ที่สุดของเมืองแม่ฮ่องสอน ตั้งอยู่บนดอยกองมู (สูงประมาณ 250 เมตรจากระดับเมือง) ขับรถขึ้นเนินชันเล็กน้อย แต่คุ้มค่ามาก เพราะได้วิวพาโนรามาแบบเต็มตา มองเห็นตัวเมืองแม่ฮ่องสอน หนองจองคำ ทะเลหมอก และเทือกเขาสลับซับซ้อนไกลสุดลูกหูลูกตา

ไฮไลต์ของที่นี่คือ พระธาตุสององค์ สีขาวบริสุทธิ์ประดับยอดทองคำ สร้างขึ้นในสมัยพญาสิงหนาทราชา (พ.ศ. 2417 และ พ.ศ. 2403) ภายในบรรจุพระบรมสารีริกธาตุและอัฐิธาตุของพระสงฆ์ผู้ใหญ่จากพม่า

ด้านบนมีระฆังและกระดิ่ง ให้แขวนขอพร เสียงดังกังวานผสมกับสายลมและหมอกบาง ๆ ทำให้รู้สึกถึงความสงบและศักดิ์สิทธิ์

ยามเช้าแสงแดดสาดส่องพระธาตุให้สว่างไสว ยามเย็นพระอาทิตย์ตกดินสีส้ม-ชมพูสะท้อนหมอก เป็นภาพที่ถ่ายแล้วต้องอึ้งทุกครั้ง

เดินขึ้นบันไดหรือขับรถขึ้นไปถึงจุดชมวิวด้านบนได้เลย มีที่จอดรถกว้างขวาง ร้านกาแฟเล็ก ๆ และแผงขายของที่ระลึกด้วย

แนะนำไปตอนเช้าหรือเย็นเพื่อหลบร้อนและได้วิวสวยที่สุด (แต่เช็คสภาพอากาศก่อนนะคะ เพราะบางวันหมอกลงหนา)

🌅 Wat Phra That Doi Kong Mu: Mae Hong Son’s 360° Viewpoint with the Most Beautiful Sunrise & Sunset! 🔔🏯

Hey northern Thailand explorers! If you’re in Mae Hong Son and haven’t climbed up to Wat Phra That Doi Kong Mu, you’re missing one of the best spots in town. This ancient temple sits on Doi Kong Mu hill (about 250 m above the city) – a short but steep drive up, but the panoramic 360° view is absolutely worth it: the whole town, Nong Jong Kham lake, endless layered mountains, and sea of mist.

The highlight? Two stunning white stupas topped with gold, built in the 19th century (1860 & 1874) by local rulers to enshrine Buddhist relics from Burma. Bells and chimes everywhere – ring them for blessings while the wind carries the sound across the valley. Sunrise turns the stupas golden; sunset paints the sky orange-pink over the fog – pure magic every time.

Easy access by car or stairs, plenty of parking, small cafés and souvenir stalls at the top. Best time: early morning or late afternoon for cooler weather and epic light (check the weather for thick fog days).
